Well this kinda makes me not be upset that I did not get the job at Realtime worlds when I had an interview before the game came out but as far as the people who lost their jobs, I feel for you all it is tough out there hopefully it wont be nearly as bad for industry vets.

Everything that I heard pointed to the fact that RTW wanted Microsoft to green light Crackdown 2 right away. When they didn't, RTW decided it would move onto other projects.

Then, MS decided they wanted to do a sequel but RTW was already balls deep in APB. So they did they next best thing and hire Ruffian.

I feel like your trying to make it out to seem as if MS had a bigger role, but I think it was a simple case of one party wanting to feel out the waters while the other was ready to get developing again. And, if anything, Crackdown 2's commercial reception shows that MS was right in hesitating to do a sequel.

It was a simple case of RTW not wanting to work on Crackdown 2 until after they finished APB. MS didn't want to wait that long, so they farmed the development out to someone else. Ruffian already had staff with experience with Crackdown, so it was a pretty no brainer decision. Nothing really special about the situation.

APB sucked, period. That was RTW's fault, period. The people responsible for Crackdown left to form Ruffian, so of course they were going to get the sequel. RTW should have expected that. Obviously the talent went with Ruffian, as can be seen by the "quality" of APB. Crackdown 2 was not a major disappointment. Fans of Crackdown enjoyed C2 as much, if not more (I'm in the more camp), than the original, mostly because of its "highly derivative" nature.

HA! When I first heard of Beatles Rock Band I told my friends that it would be the biggest flop in years. Just because a 45 year old gaming dev. or CEO LOVED the Beatles in the 60's the majority of gamers buying Rock Band are young people, who prob have never heard of the Beatles and for damn sure don't like them. I can't believe some hippie old guy said man you know what would be great....A BEATLES ROCK BAND GAME! Wait....Wait...I have the perfect idea for the next one.....Englebert Humperdink! IDIOTS!!!!

Actually deals like this are far more related to the fact that rock band three comes out in less than 2 months and they are trying to move units as well as get more people into the game before it's next iteration. It's funny how you fail to even mention this, makes this article seemed like a biased attack from a music game hater, you never even mention sales figures for The Beatles Rock Band ? weak sauce dude.
